Hello!, I'm Jannah Holder, a creative individual coming to the end of my studies on the BA Graphic Communications course at the University of Reading. I have a strong passion for design and have developed a range of skills useful in many areas including but not limited to typography, illustration, brand and print design. I take a strongly theoretical approach to design as a result of my studies and coming from a diverse background, which has exposed me to a wide range of perspectives on graphic design. I thoroughly enjoy all areas of creativity and find myself dedicating majority of my time to brand design. I hope to keep growing and learning within the industry and professional environment.
In 2020, I created an Instagram page to share my university projects and document the illustrations I enjoyed creating outside of my studies. In my time connecting with other designers, I learnt about passion projects. These briefs often set by other Instagram accounts allow you to have creative freedom under a set of often general guidelines and deliverables. As I began to take part in these passion projects and continue to share my individual designs, I began growing and attracting an audience who wanted to keep up with my progress or were generally interested in my design style.
A couple of months after starting my account, I worked with my first client on a branding project. Brand design has become a sector of graphic design that I have fallen in love with. My passion for branding continues to grow everyday and I have been fortunate enough to work with business' all over the world. From start ups to established brands looking for a rebrand, I have been able to explore many parts of brand design from the strategy, creative direction to the visual design. This has also exposed me to the business side of running my branding company. In the last two years, I have adopted a admin system, created an on-boarding process (invoicing, project proposals, contractual agreements) and learnt how to prepare files for clients for handover and more.
You can find some of my favourite client projects to date in the 'Work' section of my site:
Coming to the end of the final year of studying, I have reflected on many projects, some of which are my favourite design projects to date. The information I have learnt has allowed me to apply both my theoretical and practical skills to projects beyond university. Some of my favourite projects where I demonstrate the tools learnt at my time in University include the 'Hidden Disabilities Campaign' and 'Chromatic Magazine' and Project Freedom.
